NBA Top Shot Weekly Summary (Week of 3/15/21)
Updated: Mar 29
It's been a brutal week for the marketplace, so I hope you're all taking care of your wellbeing. I explored Santa Barbara and Solvang today, and visited some ostriches, which is why this recap is posting late. But, here we are, so let's get right into this week that had so many new things in store for us.
March 15, 2021 (Monday)
Sign ups are back! Tell the whole neighborhood.
Gifting is also back, but with some changes. You can now only gift Moments that you've had in your collection for at least 7 days. Listing and de-listing from the marketplace restarts this timer. Read more here.

Jacob did a live break with Diplo. Missed it? Watch here.
All-Star Rare pack drop was announced via email and blog. For the first time ever, Top Shot imposed a new eligibility requirement: collectors needed at least 3 Moments to join the drop, which drove the prices of some of the cheapest Moments up more than 100%. The pack is priced at $229. Here's some interesting data from @_GregMurray on collector-Moment make up.
March 18, 2021 (Thursday)
All-Star rare pack drop has been postponed from 12pm to 2pm, and then to 9am next day due to "bot issues."
Nevertheless, the All-Star Challenge has still been revealed. For a Giannis reward, the first challenge requires 10 of the 20 All-Star Moments: Irving, Brown, Tatum, Kawhi, LBJ, CP3, Mitchell, Vučević, Gobert, and Beal. Only ~3 days left to complete the challenge, which makes this one of the shortest challenges we've seen in recent times.
March 19, 2021 (Friday)
All-Star pack drop finally happened, with ~230,000 users in queue for ~36,000 packs.
MGLE Series 2 Challenge 19 has ended with 184 total completions for the Rozier reward (current floor: $1,275).
MGLE Series 2 Challenge 20 went live for a Jamal Murray reward. The challenge requires the next 9 out of the 36 remaining MGLE Series 2 Moments that have not yet been used in a challenge: LaVine, Wiggins, Harden, KAT, Ingram, Gordon, Harris, McCollum, and Lowry. The challenge ends in ~7 days. (PS: How is Zach LaVine priced lower now than before he was announced for the challenge? Market, pls)
March 20, 2021 (Saturday)
New marketplace record for highest ever sale was made for a From the Top LeBron James moment: $210,000! Tweet from @mbl267_NFT.
March 21, 2021 (Sunday)
Top Shot announced Cool Cats Drop 3 for March 22, 12pm PDT. There are no eligibility requirements for this one. 67,500 packs will be available. Good luck! Read more here.
I posted my first ever Top Shot Youtube video about my process for opening packs! I opened my All-Star rare pack and got super awesome pulls. Also doing a giveaway for a Rising Star Keldon Johnson Moment donated by NFTSports, so be sure to watch here. (PS, I'm so overwhelmed with all the support from this community. I am so grateful and humbled. Thank you all so much!)
Before you go, here's some market info:
As of March 22, at 12:17am, NBA Top Shot still leads the Crypto Collectible Market with $51.5M in sales--5.96% increase from last week's--with over 50,000 buyers and over 417,000 transactions. Data from cryptoslam.io.
...and a content spotlight:
If I had a dollar for every time I heard a question about who's getting what badge, I'd have enough to overtake the highest LBJ sale this week. Good thing @_GregMurray created a handy dandy visual for us which includes information such as which moments are getting which badges, how many of these moments are out or in packs, and what the lowest ask for these moments are. Thanks to data from evaluate.market and @KennyGabbara. You can view the full-size visual here.
Until next week! Holler on Twitter @topshotnoobie.
