What Happens When You Press "Please Notify Me When It Is My Turn" While In Queue?
If you're like me, when you get a queue number that is lower than the number of packs available, you stop moving and hold your breath until the pack is safely in your collection. However, once in a while I get the urge to do something brave and daring, so today, I entered my email on the "Please notify me when it is my turn" field and hoped for the best.
If you're curious what happens when you do that, here's how it went.
I got lucky enough to get a 21k queue number in today's base pack release of 25k. I entered my email address in the field and clicked 'Notify me by email'.
When it was my turn, I received an email from email@example.com telling me that it's almost my turn to purchase and that I should return in line. The line ID was linked in the email, and clicking it led me straight back to the queue page.
I received the email at 5:25 p.m. and at 5:29 p.m., there were still 1,168 users ahead of me. This means that I was given more than enough notice before it was actually my turn, which is good, because then I would have had time to troubleshoot any difficulties that may have arisen.
Will I do it again? Will I rely on this notification? If I have the luxury not to, I wouldn't, but if I were doing something else where I cannot watch my screen like a hawk, I would. It is a pretty cool feature to have, but as with anything, there can always be things that go wrong: email going to junk mail, not getting a push notification for the email, forgetting to check...you get what I'm saying. It'd be pretty cool to get a text notification feature next.
